Cheesecloth Ghost - Creative Inspirations

Boo! I'm sharing this spooktacular cheesecloth ghost today for Creative Inspirations Paint.  If you're looking for a quick and fun home decor project perfect for Halloween you can find the instructions for this ghost here.  I created this ghost with a package of cheesecloth and some liquid starch, which makes this project great for kids as well!  Once dry, the starch hardens and is strong enough to hold this ghost upright without any additional support!  It really looks like it is floating.

This project didn't feel complete without a little shimmer, so while the cheesecloth was still wet, I sprinkled some Creative Inspirations Resplendence Angel Dust over the ghost.  I love the hint of shine!  The Angel Dust is fine and a great way to provide an light coat of glitter.

Thanks for stopping by today!  If you celebrate the Halloween holiday I hope you have fun!  I'm anxiously awaiting the trick-or-treaters who will be knocking on my door soon.

XOXO: Kisses XO-1074
XOXO: Cardstock Sticker XO-2150
XOXO: Rub-On XO-3130
Party At The Pole: Double-Sided Punch-Out Sheets PP-4001

Chipboard Hearts: Kiki Art
Ink: Ranger

I had such a fun time putting this layout together!  The Moxxie XOXO Collection is perfect for all the sweethearts in your life.  The patterned papers feature candy hearts, plump lips, locks and keys, X's and O's and roses in the traditional love color palette of red, pink, black and white.  Several of the B-sides of the patterned papers are hot pink and lime, which really help to kick the more traditional color palette up a couple of notches!

I added a rub-on to this banner.  There are several word choices on the rub-on sheet that fit perfectly inside this banner, such as, My Luv, Only U, Be Mine, and XOXOXO.  I love the variety of options!

Tando Creative Blog Hop - Tando Minis

Chipboard Butterflies: Tando Creative
Butterfly Stencil: Momenta
Ink: Tsukineko
Goosebumps: Tsukineko
Stickles: Ranger
Other: Cherry, Twine

It's time for another Tando Creative Product Focus Blog Hop!  The product from the Tando range featured in this hop is the Tando Minis. The fabulous Tando Design Team members have created stunning projects using these products. If you leave a comment on every blog in the hop you will be entered into the prize draw to win some of these flourishes! If you have arrived here from Caro's Blog, you're on the right track.  If you're visiting my blog today for another reason, and you would like a chance to win some fabulous Tando Creative chipboard, please join the hop and start back at the Tando Creative Blog.

I used the beautiful Tando Minis - Butterflies for this tag. I used one of my favorite butterfly stencils to decorate the base of this tag, which was cut from a piece of cherry.  I colored two of the mini butterflies with inks, added them to the tag with some adhesive foam for dimension, and added some journaling which reads; May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun and find your shoulder to light on to bring you luck, happiness and riches today, tomorrow and beyond.  I added some Stickles to the mini butterfly wings for a touch of sparkle.

The Tando Minis - Butterflies has a wonderful selection of butterflies in several sizes and designs consisting of 24 pieces. They are cut from a lighter weight board that is just over 1mm thick so are ideal for cards and small projects such as ATC's and tags. They could also be used with printer trays or similar styled projects and can easily be embossed.

Thanks for stopping by today!  The next stop on the hop is Gez's Blog.

Wall Hanging - Your Memories Here

Corrugated Album Page: Want 2 Scrap
Paper: Prima
Flower: Prima
Bottle Cap Charm: Prima
Pin: Prima
Modeling Paste: Blick
Gelatos: Faber-Castell
Mist: Tattered Angels
Ink: Ranger
Other: Lace, Twine

I'm sharing a wall hanging I created for Your Memories Here today.  The pumpkin patch that we visit every year also has a giant field of sunflowers.  I took this photo of my daughter smelling one of the few flowers that were within her reach.  I love this picture so much that I decided to make a fall-themed wall hanging.

The base of my hanging is a corrugated album page.  I added modeling paste in random areas and used my Faber-Castell Gelatos in Coconut, Lemon, Gold Champagne, Tangerine, Mint and Chocolate to add some color.  Instead of using water to wet the Gelatos, I used Tattered Angels Mist in Pearl.  If you'd like to learn more about creating a similar background for your project, this fabulous video tutorial by Lynne Forsythe is a must see!

All of the patterned papers I used on this piece are Prima Freebies from My Prima Place Volume 3.  I added some new Prima embellishments from my Grab Bag to finish the hanging.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!  If you haven't stopped by the Your Memories Here Store be sure to check them out.  The Prima Grab Bags are a wonderful value if you're looking for a great mix of Prima products at a great price. Pick one up before they're gone for good!

Psycho - Scrap It With A Song

Chipboard: Maya Road
Paint: Ranger, Tulip, Zig
Mist: Clearsnap
Other: Paper
Song Lyrics: Michael Jackson

In the spirit of the Halloween season, Scrap It With A Song is playing along to a set of spooky and dark songs this month. On the playlist this week is "Somebody's Watching Me" by Michael Jackson. I love the film Psycho and I was inspired to create this ATC by the following song lyrics:

When I'm in the shower, I'm afraid to wash my hair.
Cause I might open my eyes and find someone standing there!
People say I'm crazy, just a little touched.
But maybe showers remind me of Psycho too much.

The Rock Chicks would love to see how you interpret this song! Link up your project to the SIWAS Blog by the end of the month for your chance to be named one of our Play List Favorites and a Guest Designer for November! Thanks for stopping by today!

Lollipop Cookie - Creative Inspirations Paint

Stamp: Nicole
Ink: Tsukineko
Paint: Creative Inspirations
Ribbon: Offray
Cookie Pop Recipe: Martha Stewart
Other: Wood Stick

I bake these cookies several times a year.  My girls love them and some things just taste better on a stick!  My daughter recently had a bake sale for her school corn festival and I baked a batch for her.  I wanted to tie in the fall theme of the festival so I chose a candy corn stamp and some colorful Creative Inspirations paints.

I stamped onto the cellophane with solvent ink and then painted the candy corn with Creative Inspirations paint in winter Frost, Sunshine and Mango.  Isn't the shimmer fabulous!?  This paint works great on slick surfaces.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  If you would like a chance to win some of this fabulous paint, join in on any one of the weekly challenges each month.  You don't need to use Creative Inspirations paints to play along, but if you do, you double your chances of winning! Be sure to check out the Creative Inspirations Paint Blog for more inspiration from the talented design team.

Bat Ring - Tando Creative

Embossing Powder: Creative Inspirations
Pearls: Want 2 Scrap
Other: Ring

I'm sharing a fun piece of jewelry for Tando Creative today.  The theme this week is Things That Fly.  I thought I would make a ring to go with the dangle necklace I shared earlier this month.  Halloween only comes around once a year, so I wanted to use this little bat, which is part of the Mixed Halloween Mini Set, before the end of the month.  I covered the bat with several coats of embossing powder and added some pearl eyes.

Mixed Media Journal - Your Memories Here

Album Kit: Prima
Distress Ink: Ranger
Mist: Tattered Angels
Modeling Paste: Blick
Gesso: Golden
Paint: Ranger, Martha Stewart, Creative Imaginations
Stencil: Prima

I purchased a Live With Prima Mixed Media Album Kit from Your Memories Here and had a lot of fun altering the front and back covers!  Jamie Dougherty leads the class and does a fabulous job helping me to create my beautiful mixed media masterpiece using art mediums, resins, flowers and resist canvas shapes! This album contains 50 pages of kraft cardstock with leather binding, a bronze knob, printed canvas cover and cream twined rope.

The gorgeous heart with wings resin pieces, the large pink Bravo flowers and the wood envelope are some of my favorite embellishments and they are all included in this kit!

I embellished the back cover with modeling paste, gesso, paint, ink and a Prima stencil.  Once that was dry I covered both the back and front covers with a light coat of Tattered Angels Mist in Iridescent Gold to add a subtle shimmer.

If you're looking for a special album for yourself or a gift, visit the Live With Prima section of the Your Memories Here Store.  The kits have been restocked and are priced to sell! I have a lot of embellishments left over that I will be able to use on the pages of this album or on other projects.  I completed altering the covers of this album in about 30 minutes, so if you don't have the time to travel for a scrapbook class, the Live With Prima series is a wonderful alternative. Thanks for stopping by today!

Floral Branch Tutorial

Floral Branch From Loose Flowers Tutorial by Dana Tatar

I love adding flowers to my layouts. My pages never seem finished to me without some beautiful blooms. I usually use flowers as they are, straight from the package for my projects. I found that by removing the flower centers and separating the layers of flower petals, a single bloom could be transformed into a floral branch.

Loose Flower Separation for Floral Branch Assembly by Dana Tatar

Step One: Carefully remove the flower center from each flower and gently peel apart the layers of flower petals. Note: I used the Petaloo Darjeeling Collection Wild Flower Mix for my floral branches.

Green Flower Petals As Leaf Replacement by Dana Tatar

Step Two: Pull apart, or cut using scissors, the petals of a green flower so that the petals are in groups of two or three. Note: I separated the green flower in this manner for use as the base for each of my floral buds. A matching or contrasting colored petal, or fabric leaves, could also be used for a floral base.

Piercing Flower Petals for Stem Assembly

Step Three: Using a paper piercer, gently pierce a hole through the center of each flower and flower base.

Step Four: Cut a piece of floral wire to the desired length and bend a small loop at one end. Add one flower and one floral base to the piece of floral wire.

Step Five: Apply a small drop of adhesive to the center of the flower and add the flower center. Form the flower into the desired shape and let dry.

Step Six: Apply a small drop of adhesive to the center of the floral base and wrap around the bottom of the flower. Let the adhesive dry before moving on to the next step.

Step Seven: Starting at the base of the flower, wrap floral tape around the floral wire. Continue wrapping floral tape around the wire until you reach the desired spot on the floral wire for the next flower.

Step Eight: Add one flower and one floral base to the piece of floral wire.

Step Nine: Assemble the flower as before. Apply a small drop of adhesive to the center of the flower. Form the flower into the desired shape and let dry. Apply a small drop of adhesive to the center of the floral base and wrap around the bottom of the flower. Let the adhesive dry. Starting at the base of the flower, wrap floral tape around the floral wire.

Step Ten: Continue wrapping floral tape around the wire until you reach the end of the wire. Repeat these steps to make the remaining flowers into floral branches. Note: The flowers that I used had two layers of petals and one flower center, so each of my floral branches has two flowers, one with a decorative flower center. The amount of flowers on each branch can easily be increased or decreased.

I created this layout and tutorial for the Petaloo event at Scrapbook News and Review Magazine last summer. While I'm not totally in love with this page anymore, I'm still crazy about the floral branches.

DIY Mask Tutorial - Moxxie

I love patterned paper! My favorite way to add detail and embellishments to my layouts is through fussy cutting. I love to cut papers apart and rearrange the pieces into my own design. Before buying any piece of paper, I always ask myself, 'Can I cut this paper?' When I first saw the All Wrapped Up patterned paper from the Moxxie Very Merry Unbirthday Collection, I immediately thought that it would make a fantastic mask.  With some packaging tape, a craft knife and a little patience, my mask vision became a reality!

The first step to turning this fabulous piece of patterned paper into a mask is to cover both the front and the back of the sheet with packaging tape.

Next, use a craft knife to cut out all the blue squares from the patterned paper.

Here is what my finished mask looks like. I left about a 1-inch border around the paper to help add some stability to the mask.

I mixed some ink into a small amount of modeling paste, and using my mask, spread the paste onto the background of my tag.  A big advantage to having a mask is that I can add this fantastic pattern to my project in any color I choose!

The Very Merry Unbirthday collection is fun and bold, but this mask can also be used for a soft feminine layout!  I used my mask again to create my background pattern, this time using Distress Ink.  The Evergreen Bough Distress Ink is a great match to the green in the Forever Family collection.  I'm looking forward to using my new mask on more projects and I'll be sure to share them with you!

Wicked - Tando Creative

Paper: American Crafts, Pink Paislee, Reminisce
Letters: American Crafts
Chipboard: Tando Creative
Flowers: Manor House Creations, Prima
Leaves: Prima
Charms: Prima
Stickers: Jolee's Boutique, Reminisce
Lace: Prima
Glaze: Tattered Angels
Ink: Ranger
Paint: Tulip, Ranger
Other: Twine

The theme this week at Tando Creative is Spooky Halloween!  I had a lot of fun putting this layout together.  My daughter was a witch last year for Halloween and I think she has a pretty good spooky face.

This Large Cobweb paired so well with my background paper.  I colored it with Glimmer Glaze and Distress Ink.  I couldn't resist adding a spider!

A piece of Scalloped Bunting was the perfect base for my title.  I first colored the chipboard with Distress Ink and then added Crackle Paint, puffy paint and charms.  I know I've said this before, but I love the thickness and strength of Tando chipboard.  I applied three different wet mediums and several embellishments to this piece of chipboard and it didn't bend or peel!

Thanks for stopping by today!  You can see what this chipboard looked like before I started my project below.
